What’s so ironic about Phelps and his band of sicko-phants is they just may wind up being the ones told to “Depart, ye workers of iniquity!”
1st John 2:9–He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now.
1st John 3:14-15–We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

I can’t get over the dissonance: they laugh at others going to hell. How far from Paul who wished himself accursed that he might save his brothers according to the flesh. And if the soldiers are in hell wishing somone would tell their relative to avoid hell, then shouln’t that be our message - how men and women might avoid such an awful fate?
It gets me thinking perhaps groups like this are the result of the watered-down evangelicalsim that denies and downplays the reality of eternal punishment. If the church was faithful then they would have little ground to trade on.
Yes, being hated is a mark of discipleship but so is love, kindness, grace etc. That I am hated is not proof of being a disciple even if all disciples are hated. I may just be a mean-spirited bigot. They are deluded and then reason falsely. So sad and so much to the dishonour of our lovely saviour.

Result of brainwashing, or inbreeding?
I’m quite serious. Nobody but THIS family goes to this church, and they don’t marry outside of it. How do they keep coming up with these new “young people?”

I want to find a way to predict where they are going to “demonstrate”. I want to stand silently across the street from them, with my own big banner. On it is printed, in letters as big as I can make them:
“I WAS THIRSTY, AND YOU GAVE ME NO DRINK”
“I WAS HUNGRY AND YOU DID NOT FEED ME”
“I WAS IN PRISON, AND YOU DIDN’T VISIT ME”
Let them remember what comes next in that dialog…

The Pilgrim really hit the nail on the head in his title A truly sad deception.
Listen again to what the girls are saying, in the midst of their giggles about people going to hell and their proclamations about everyone else being “wrong” while Phelps is alone is “right” they nevertheless affirm the absolute sovereignty of the One True and Living God in matters of life and death, the created order, and divine judgment.
Satan is no fool, and his theology is quite orthodox. The best deception is a bitter mixture of truth and error. Sad indeed.
