Download your free cult flyer.

1, May 19, 2008

It was the spring of 2006 and I kept seeing Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses going door to door throughout the neighborhoods of my community. It got me thinking: What are the local Christian Churches doing to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to combat the spread of false doctrine in our community? Additionally I pondered about what I could personally do.

I then came across the Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry website (www.CARM.org). They had a downloadable cult warning flyer. Eureka! This was exactly what I didn’t know I was looking for and exactly what we needed here in my town. I quickly went to work on my own version of a flyer and several months later, the new flyer was birthed.

Now, in the spring of 2008, I have updated and produced the second version of the cult flyer and am now offering it for you to download for free to distribute in your neighborhood.

Flyer: Who’s Really Knocking at Your Door?

I also encourage you to download my free tract to insert in each of the flyers. There are three identical tracts (front and back) to each page. Tract: Priceless

Simply print the cult flyer on 11 x 14 paper (front and back). Then print the tract (also front and back on 11 x 14 paper). Cut the tract into three, fold the cult flyer and insert one tract into each flyer. Then put a hole in the top with a hole punch, put a rubber band through it and it’s ready to be hung on doors.

I am currently working on six new tracts to download and insert in the cult flyer (each one different) and will make them available in the near future.

Mormon elder receives the Drama Llama award.

1, April 12, 2008

There are generally three types of reaction you can expect to see when the Holy Spirit convicts someone of their sin:

1). Repentance: They feel the conviction and weight of their own sin and realize that they need Jesus Christ as the propitiation for those sins.

2). Suppression: They feel the conviction of their sin but just laugh it off and suppress God’s beckoning call (and their heart grows harder). They apply the “ignore it and it will go away” philosophy. They comprehend their dire condition but choose to ignore the truth, putting it off for one more day.

3). Anger: They feel the conviction of their sin but lash out with anger because their pride in self, tradition, church, organization etc., simply won’t allow them to repent.

Two minutes into the below video you’ll see a Mormon elder who can’t take the conviction of sin any longer and becomes very angry (yes, I know that most Mormons don’t act in this manner so you don’t have to e-mail me to tell me).

There’s definitiely a conviction of sin going on in this young man’s heart. Perhaps he’s been living with the gnawing feeling that a lifetime of dead works, commitment, and dedication to a defunct faith that cannot give man any assurance of salvation has come to a head. Or perhaps he was just having a bad day. Either way, he’s beside himself and another Mormon elder even tries to calm him down with no luck.

As you watch this video, remember back to all those times Mormons have come onto this blog and called me “angry” and accused me of “attacking” them because I dared to print the teachings and quotes of their own organization. Consider all the times I’ve been called “hateful” in spite of the fact that it’s the Mormon’s who founded their whole religion on the idea that the Christian faith is apostate, that Christians are heathens, and that the Christian God is the Mormon Devil. Remember all that when you watch this young man’s behavior toward Christians who are merely preaching the Gospel.

Thanks to Rhea for directing me to this video.

Using the law of God in witnessing to a Mormon Elder.

1, April 10, 2008

The Mormon is obviously feeling uncomfortable about his own sin being exposed in the light of God’s Law. Unfortunately the interviewer’s tape ran out in the middle of the conversation but it is still worth watching.

Almost 200 removed from Mormon compound.

1, April 5, 2008

Read the news articles here and here and watch an eye-opening video on polygamy here.

Before anyone criticizes these people who practiced this lifestyle of polygamy (especially when the criticism comes from mainstream Mormons) just keep in mind that the blame for this polygamist behavior is not to be laid at the feet of Warren Jeffs, but the blame is none other than the cult’s original founder, Joseph Smith. It was Smith and his insatiable sexual appetite that led him to claim that God gave him the “new and everlasting covenant” of polygamy:

“For behold, I reveal unto you a new and everlasting covenant; and if ye abide not that covenant, then are ye damned; for no one can reject this covenant and be permitted to enter into my glory. For all who will have a blessing at my hands shall abide the law which was appointed . . . before the foundation of the world. And as pertaining to the new and everlasting covenant, it was instituted for the fulness [sic] of my glory; and he that receiveth a fulness [sic] thereof must and shall be damned, saith the Lord God.” (Doctrine & Covenants, 132:4-6)

This “new and everlasting covenant” of polygamy was confirmed by Mormonism’s second president/prophet Brigham Young when he said in the Deseret News on November 14, 1855:

Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned . . .

Sixth president/prophet of Mormonism Joseph F. Smith said in the Journal of Discourses, Volume 20, page 31:

“I understand the law of celestial marriage to mean that every man in this Church, who has the ability to obey and practice it in righteousness and will not, shall be damned, I say I understand it to mean this and nothing less, and I testify in the name of Jesus that it does mean that.”

Well, last time I checked, an “everlasting covenant” meant exactly that: an everlasting covenant.

Even LDS published Gospel Principles tells us on page 98 (1997 edition):

The fulness [sic] of the gospel is called the new and everlasting covenant. . . . The Lord calls it ‘everlasting’ because it is ordained by an everlasting God and because the covenant will never be changed.

So before you mainstream Mormons judge and condemn these FLDS members, remember, they’re not the ones who apostatized.

tanners-1.jpg While very few Mormons today would try to defend Joseph Smith’s ideas about the “inhabitants of the moon,” the Church still teaches that the Book of Mormon is scripture, that Adam’s altar is in Missouri, and that the Book of Abraham was translated from Egyptian papyrus.

3,913 documented changes to the “most correct” book on earth.

1, March 7, 2008

3913.jpg Joseph Smith called it the most correct of any book on earth. He said it was the keystone of the Mormon religion, that it contains the fullness of the everlasting gospel and a man would get nearer to God by abiding its precepts than by any other book. Yet, the Book of Mormon has undergone 3,913 documented changes, alterations, and corrections since its first printing.

These changes to the most correct book on earth can be reviewed in the book 3,913 Changes in the Book of Mormon published by Utah Lighthouse Ministries. This book reproduces (via photocopy) the 1830 Book of Mormon page-by-page along with the modern version showing all the changes. This is a must-have for those serious about studying Mormonism.

The Book of Mormon can and should be tested. It invites criticism. Hugh Nibley, An Approach to the Book of Mormon, Page 13

This book [Book of Mormon] must be either true or false. . . . If false, it is one of the most cunning, wicked, bold, deep-laid impositions ever palmed upon the world, calculated to deceive and ruin millions who will sincerely receive it as the word of God. Will the Mormon church be able to stop NASA’s planned assault on the inhabitants of the moon?

1, February 28, 2008

moon-crash.jpg According to this article NASA is set to slam not one, but two satellites into the moon. Since Mormon leaders have taught that the moon is populated (along with the sun), I anticipate that the LDS church will vehemently protest this planned attack on the moon. I expect to see the LDS church publicly confront NASA on their disregard for human life and their insensitivity to the inhabitants of the moon. The LDS church will have to race against the clock, though, as this attack on the moon people is scheduled for February 2009.

If they don’t take a stand here and now, Kolob may be next!

What if Gordon B. Hinckley returned from the grave to deliver one last message?

1, February 26, 2008

hinckley.jpg Here’s your chance to be a little creative and use some artistic license. I pose this query to all my readers, so put on your thinking caps.

It was exactly one month ago today that Mormon prophet/president Gordon B. Hinckley died. What if he was permitted to return from where he’s spent the last month (wherever you think he may be) to deliver one last, but brief, message? What do you think his message to the world would be now?

I anxiously await your comments.

Mormonism: A history of outlandish outerspace opinions, crazy cosmology, silly spacemen, and lunar lunacy.

solar-sysytem.jpg

Joseph Fielding Smith, tenth prophet/president of the Mormon church, said the following:

We are not the only people that the Lord has created. We have brothers and sisters on other earths. They look like us because they, too, are the children of God and were created in his image, for they are also his offspring. Doctrines of Salvation, Volume 1, Page 62

Brigham Young, second prophet/president of the Mormon church, announced the following three gems of wisdom:

Mankind are here because they are the offspring of parents who were first brought here from another planet, and power was given them to propagate their species. Journal of Discourses, Volume 7, Page 285, 1859

Who can tell us of the inhabitants of this little planet that shines of an evening, called the moon? When we view its face we may see what is termed “the man in the moon,” and what some philosophers declare are the shadows of mountains. But these sayings are very vague, and amount to nothing; and when you inquire about the inhabitants of that sphere you find that the most learned are as ignorant in regard to them as the most ignorant of their fellows. So it is with regard to the inhabitants of the sun. Do you think it is inhabited? I rather think it is. Do you think there is any life there? No question of it; it was not made in vain. Journal of Discourses, Volume 13, Page 271, 1870

We are called ignorant; so we are: but what of it? Are not all ignorant? I rather think so. It was made to give light to those who dwell upon it, and to other planets; and so will this earth when it is celestialized. Journal of Discourses, Volume 13, Page 271, 1870

Martin Harris, one of the three Witnesses to the Book of Mormon, had this to say:

Daniel Hendrix relates that as he and [Martin] Harris were riding to the village one evening, and he remarked on the beauty of the moon, Harris replied that if his companion could only see it as he had, he might well call it beautiful, explaining that he had actually visited the moon, and added that it “was only the faithful who were permitted to visit celestial regions.” William A. Linn, The Story of the Mormons, Page 35, 1902

Oliver B. Huntington, who was a close associate of Joseph Smith and remained a faithful Mormon his whole life, had this to say:

Astronomers and philosophers have, from time almost immemorial until very recently, asserted that the moon was uninhabited, that it had n atmosphere, etc. But recent discoveries, through the means of powerful telescopes, have given scientists a doubt or two upon the old theory. Nearly all the great discoveries of men in the last half century have, in one way or another, either directly or indirectly, contributed to prove Joseph Smith to be a prophet. As far back as 1837, I know that he said the moon was inhabited by men and women the same as this earth, and that they lived to a greater age than we do, that they live generally to near the age of a 1000 years. He described the men as averaging near six feet in height, and dressing quite uniformly in something near the Quaker style. In my Patriarchal blessing, given by the father of Joseph the Prophet, in Kirtland, 1837, I was told that I should preach the gospel before I was 21 years of age; that I should preach the gospel to the inhabitants upon the islands of the sea, and–to the inhabitants of the moon, even the planet you can now behold with your eyes. Young Woman’s Journal, Volume 3, pages 263-264, 1892

Huntington also told of founding prophet/president Joseph Smith’s teaching regarding the moon:

“The inhabitants of the moon are more of a uniform size than the inhabitants of the earth, being about 6 feet in height. They dress very much like the quaker style and are quite general in style, or fashion of dress. They live to be very old; coming generally, near a thousand years.” This is the description of them as given by Joseph the Seer, and he could “see” whatever he asked the father in the name of Jesus to see. The Journal of Oliver B. Huntington, Volume 3, Page 166

Your Mormon Quote of the Day.

adams-altar.jpg  At that great gathering Adam offered sacrifices on an altar built for the purpose. A remnant of that very altar remained on the spot down through the ages. On May 19, 1838, Joseph Smith and a number of his associates stood on the remainder of the pile of stones at a place called Spring Hill, Daviess County, Missouri.

Jesus of Mormonism: Born of the Holy Spirit or not?

1, February 13, 2008

“They tell us the Book of Mormon states that Jesus was begotten of the Holy Ghost. I challenge that statement. The Book of Mormon teaches no such thing! Neither does the Bible. It is true there is one passage that states so, but we must consider it in light of other passages with which it is in conflict.” Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, Volume 1, Page 18

What Mormons have said about the Apostle Paul.

1, February 9, 2008

You’ve seen what Mormons really think of Christians, but what have they taught regarding the the Apostle Paul?

jedediah-m-grant.gif Jedediah M. Grant:

“When Peter came to Antioch,” says Paul, “I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed,” &c. Paul does not gain much credit with the Mormons for taking this course. We know he had no right to rebuke Peter; but some man said he was like Almon Babbit, he wanted to boast of rebuking Peter. He thought it was a feather in his cap because he coped with Peter and rebuked him. Had that affair come before a “Mormon” tribunal, they would have decided in favour [sic] of Peter, and against Paul. We believe when Paul rebuked Peter, he had in him a spirit of rebellion, and was decidedly wrong in rebelling against the man who held the keys of the kingdom of God on earth. Journal of Discourses, Volume 1, Page 346, 1853

joseph-smith-pic.jpg Joseph Smith:

[The Apostle] Paul, if Joseph Smith is a blasphemer, you are. I say there are Gods many and Lords many, but to us only one, and we are to be in subjection to that one and no man can limit the bounds or the eternal existence of eternal time. Hath he beheld the eternal world, and is he authorized to say that there is only one God? He makes himself a fool if he thinks or says so, and there is an end of his career or progress in knowledge. History of the Church, Volume 6, Pages 474-475

Paul had seven churches, and they drove him off from among them; and yet they cannot do it by me. History of the Church, Volume 6, Page 478

I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet. History of the Church, Volume 6, Pages 408-409

Well is he, or isn’t he?

1, February 7, 2008

Now that Mitt Romney has dropped out of the race, I figured I’d post this without there being presumed political motives to blind the senses of the pro-Romney crowd.

There’s two issues this video raises: It deals with abortion and it deals with Mormonism’s most recognized public figure right now, not being able to tell the truth (kind of like in this video).

So since Romney has flip-flopped on the issue of abortion, I have to ask, is he pro-life or pro-abortion? And how does Salt Lake City view (allow and accept) his stance on abortion one day and another stance on it another day? Are they not concerned with integrity when it’s coming from someone who is clearly representing (whether intentionally or not) the LDS church?

Mormons have extended an open invitation for us to examine, question, and challenge them.

1, February 4, 2008

That is, of course, until you actually take them up on that offer. Then you’re called names and are accused of “attacking” them.

Teachers of false doctrine always speak out of both sides of their mouth and they always want to be left alone; preferring to operate in the darkness without any resistance. And they always–without fail–mischaracterize those who interfere with their spreading of false doctrine.

040805skate_rat_apologeticposturing.jpg

I think a full, free talk is frequently of great use; we want nothing secret nor underhanded, and I for one want no association with things that cannot be talked about and will not bear investigation.
John Taylor, Journal of Discourses, Volume 20, Page 264

I say to the whole world, receive the truth, no matter who presents it to you. Take up the Bible, compare the religion of the Latter-day Saints with it, and see if it will stand the test.
Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, Volume 16, Page 46

If this is not correct doctrine then I am in error, and if I am in error I want to be corrected.
Joseph F. Smith, Journal of Discourses, Volume 20, Page 31

If a faith will not bear to be investigated; if its preachers and professors are afraid to have it examined, their foundation must be very weak.
George A. Smith, Journal of Discourses, Volume 14, Page 216

The Book of Mormon can and should be tested. It invites criticism.
Hugh Nibley, An Approach to the Book of Mormon, Page 13

Convince us of our errors of doctrine, if we have any, by reason, by logical arguments, or by the word of God, and we will be ever grateful for the information, and you will ever have the pleasing reflection that you have been instrumental in the hands of God redeeming your fellow beings from the darkness which you may see enveloping their minds. Come, then, let us reason together, and try to discover the true light upon all subjects, connected with our temporal or eternal happiness; and if we disagree, in our judgments, let us impute it to the weakness and imperfections of our fallen natures, and let us pity each other, and endeavor with patience and meekness to reclaim from error, and save the immortal soul from an endless death.
Orson Pratt, The Seer, Pages 15-16

If any man has a truth that we have not got, we say, “Let us have it.” I am willing to exchange all the errors and false notions I have for one truth, and should consider that I had made a good bargain. We are not afraid of light and truth. Our religion embraces every truth in heaven, earth or hell; it embraces all truth.
Wilford Woodruff, Journal of Discourses, Volume 18, Page 117

The doctrines of false teachers will not stand the test when tried by the accepted standards of measurement, scriptures.
The Millennial Star, Volume 96, Pages 33-34

According to Mormonism, are we to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ or not?

1, January 31, 2008

040731mad_jesuit_search.jpg

It is no secret that many false and vain and foolish things are being taught in the sectarian world even among us about our need to gain a special relationship with the Lord Jesus. . . . In an attempt to be truer than true [Christians] devote themselves to gaining a special, personal relationship with Christ that is both improper and perilous. . . . Another peril is that those involved begin to pray directly to Christ because of some special friendship they feel has been developed. In this connection a current and unwise book, which advocates gaining a special relationship with Jesus, contains this sentence—“Because the Savior is our mediator, our prayers go through Christ to the Father, and the Father answers our prayers through His Son.” This is plain sectarian nonsense. Our prayers are addressed to the Father and the Father only. They do not go through Christ. Bruce R. McConkie, Church News, Page 5, March 20, 1982

All of the prophets since Christ have testified that he did come. All of us need to study the life of the Savior and follow him faithfully throughout our lives. We each need to have a personal relationship with Him. Gospel Principles, Page 61, 1997

What a difference fifteen years makes.

LDS finally admits that Joseph Smith was a polygamist, and that he told different versions of the “first vision.”

1, January 25, 2008

shocking-revelation.jpg The Salt Lake Tribune is reporting in this article that a new LDS produced and approved manual is conceding what historians and others who have researched Mormonism have known all along; Mormon founding prophet Joseph Smith was a polygamist!

Those of us who have known about Joseph Smith’s multiple wives (including one marriage to a 14-year old child) have one thing to say, “Welcome aboard, what took you so long?”

But even more shocking to me than their admission of Smith’s practice of polygamy (after all these years of denial) is another admission made by LDS. This one is even more damaging to their house of cards:

The first chapter about Smith’s “First Vision,” in which he claimed to see God and Jesus in a grove of trees, includes a footnote about how Smith described the encounter in different ways to different people.

Holy smokes! I never thought I’d live to see the day when Latter-day Saints would admit to that.

050503joe_know_first-vision1.jpg

This problem of Joseph Smith telling conflicting versions of an event that he supposedly experienced is yet another incidence that critics of Mormonism have been citing for years only to be told by well-intentioned Mormons that we’re crazy.

I believe that with the advent of the internet, the Mormon organization finally has to start dealing with these issues instead of sticking their head in the sand and telling their members to “pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.”

040709straymutt_sealedpapa.jpg

We’ve been telling Mormons this stuff for years while Mormon apologists have accused us of being anti-Mormon liars who don’t know their history and beliefs as well as they do, and since they haven’t been taught this stuff in their local Ward, then it couldn’t possibly be true . . . could it?

I have to give credit to the LDS organization for their candidness and finally admitting to documented truths that they and we have known all along. If they continue this new trend of telling the truth I imagine that they’re going to see a change in their membership numbers.

On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Mormon church wishes to remind you that they’ve been racism-free since 1978.

1, January 21, 2008

040209my_song_angel_mmm.jpg

The following are just a few of the many racist-laden quotes from Mormonism:

And the gospel of Jesus Christ shall be declared among them [Lamanites]; wherefore, they shall be restored unto the knowledge of their fathers, and also to the knowledge of Jesus Christ . . . . and their scales of darkness shall begin to fall from their eyes; and many generations shall not pass away among them, save they shall be a white and delightsome people. Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 30:5-6, (Changed in 1981 to read “pure and delightsome“)

And it came to pass that I beheld, after they had dwindled in unbelief they became a dark, and loathsome, and a filthy people, full of idleness and all manner of abominations. Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 12:23

And their curse was taken from them, and their skin became white like unto the Nephites; And their young men and their daughters became exceedingly fair . . . Book of Mormon, 3 Nephi 2:15-16

For behold, the Lord shall curse the land with much heat, and the barrenness thereof shall go forth forever; and there was a blackness came upon all the children of Canaan, that they were despised among all people. Pearl of Great Price, Moses 7:8

The day of the Lamanites is nigh. For years they have been growing delightsome, and they are now becoming white and delightsome, as they were promised. . . . The children [Indian children in the LDS] home placement program in Utah are often shades lighter than their brothers and sisters in the hogans on the reservations . . . . These young members of the Church are changing to whiteness and to delightsomeness. One white elder jokingly said that he and his companion were donating blood regularly to the hospital in the hope that the process might be accelerated. Spencer Kimball, Improvement Era, Pags 922-923, December 1960

Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God, is death on the spot. This will always be so. Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, Volume 10, Page 110, 1863

You can see men and women who are sixty or seventy years of age looking young and handsome; but let them apostatize, and they will become grayhaired, wrinkled, and black, just like the Devil. Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, Volume 5, Page 332, 1857

Why are so many of the inhabitants of the earth cursed with a sin of blackness? It comes in consequence of their fathers rejecting the power of the Holy Priesthood, and the law of God. They will go down to death. And when all the rest of the children have received their blessings in the Holy Priesthood, then that curse will be removed from the seed of Cain, and they will then come up and possess the priesthood, and receive all the blessings which we now are entitled to. The volition of the creature is free; this is a law of their existence, and the Lord cannot violate his own law; were he to do that, he would cease to be God. Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, Volume 11, Page 272, 1866

Suppose we summons them to appear here, and here declare that it is right to mingle our seed, with the black race of Cain, that they shall come in with us and be pertakers [sic] with us of all the blessings God has given to us. On that very day, and hour we should do so, the priesthood is taken from this Church and kingdom and God leaves us to our fate. The moment we consent to mingle with the seed of Cain and Church must go to desstruction [sic], — we should receive the curse which has been placed upon the seed of Cain . . . . Therefore I will not consent for one moment to have an african [sic] dictate me or any Bren. with regard to Church or State Government. . . . If the Affricans [sic] cannot bear rule in the Church of God, what business have they to bear rule in the State Government affairs of this Territory or any others? Brigham Young Address, Ms d 1234, Box 48, Folder 3, LDS Church Historical Department, February 05, 1852

Not only was Cain called upon to suffer, but because of his wickedness he became the father of an inferior race. A curse was placed upon him and that curse has been continued through his lineage and must do so while time endures. Millions of souls have come into this world cursed with a black skin and have been denied the privilege of Priesthood and the fulness [sic] of the blessings of the Gospel. These are the descendants of Cain. Moreover, they have been made to feel their inferiority and have been separated from the rest of mankind from the beginning. Joseph Fielding Smith, Way to Perfection, Page 101

It was well understood by the early elders of the Church that the mark which was placed on Cain and which his posterity inherited was the black skin. The Book of Moses informs us that Cain and his descendants were black. Joseph Fielding Smith, Way to Perfection, Page 107

There is a reason why one man is born black and with other disadvantages, while another is born white with great advantages. The reason is that we once had an estate before we came here, and were obedient, more or less, to the laws that were given us there. Those who were faithful in all things there received greater blessings here, and those who were not faithful received less. Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrine and Covenants, Volume 1, Page 61

The negroes are not equal with other races where the receipt of certain spiritual blessings are concerned . . . but this inequality is not of man’s origin. It is the Lord’s doing, is based on his eternal laws of justice, and grows out of the lack of spiritual valiance of those concerned in their first estate. Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, Pages 527-528, 1966 Edition

Joesph Smith explains the meaning of the word “Mormon.”

1, January 17, 2008

“The error I speak of, is the definition of the word “MORMON.” It has been stated that this word was derived from the Greek word mormo. This is not the case. There was no Greek or Latin upon the plates from which I, through the grace of God, translated the Book of Mormon . . . . I may safely say that the word Mormon stands independent of the learning and wisdom of this generation.—Before I give a definition, however, to the word, let me say that the Bible in its wildest sense, means good . . . . We say from the Saxon, good; the Dane, god; the Goth, goda; the German, gut; the Dutch, goed; the Latin, bonus; the Greek, kalos; the Hebrew, tob; and the Egyptian, mon. Hence, with the addition of more, or the contraction, mor, we have the word MORMON; which means, literally, more good.”  Joseph Smith, Times & Seasons, Volume 4, Page 194, 1843

That makes it clear as mud!

When is an “everlasting covenant” not an “everlasting covenant?” When polygamy becomes unpopular.

1, January 13, 2008

polygamy.gif

When is an “everlasting covenant” not an “everlasting covenant?” When it’s politically expedient for Utah to be recognized as a State; also known as “because we said so.”

Besides using your common sense, (and your common knowledge of the meaning of the word everlasting), Dictionary.com defines the word everlasting as lasting forever; eternal.”

Even the 1997 edition of the LDS published book Gospel Principles says, “The fulness [sic] of the gospel is called the new and everlasting covenant. . . . The Lord calls it ‘everlasting’ because it is ordained by an everlasting God and because the covenant will never be changed.

Yet, this very concept does not apply to another “new and everlasting covenant.” And why not? Because the other “new and everlasting covenant” isn’t popular anymore in Mormonism.

In 1843, Mormon prophet Joseph Smith received the following from “God” on the new (and everlasting) doctrine of polygamy:

For behold, I reveal unto you a new and everlasting covenant; and if ye abide not that covenant, then are ye damned; for no one can reject this covenant and be permitted to enter into my glory. For all who will have a blessing at my hands shall abide the law which was appointed . . . before the foundation of the world. And as pertaining to the new and everlasting covenant, it was instituted for the fulness [sic] of my glory; and he that receiveth a fulness [sic] thereof must and shall be damned, saith the Lord God. Doctrine & Covenants, 132:4-6, July 12, 1843

This is further advanced by Mormonism’s second prophet Brigham Young when he said in the Deseret News on November 14, 1855:

Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned . . .

Joseph F. Smith in the Journal of Discourses, volume 20, page 31 said:

“I understand the law of celestial marriage to mean that every man in this Church, who has the ability to obey and practice it in righteousness and will not, shall be damned, I say I understand it to mean this and nothing less, and I testify in the name of Jesus that it does mean that.”

Although polygamy is not an issue for fundamentalist Mormons who continue to practice the teachings of Joseph Smith, it is a huge problem for mainstream Mormons who try to separate themselves from polygamy. The mainstream Mormon has to come to one of the following conclusions:

1. The Mormon god is incapable of foreseeing that his own “everlasting covenant” wouldn’t be everlasting.

2. The Mormon god is not the same yesterday, today, and forever and is subject to change on a whim, (or when it’s advantageous for Utah to become a state). In that case it just further proves the god of Mormonism is not the God of Christians. And besides, who wants to follow a god who changes from day to day? One who says one thing one day, then something else the next?

3. The fundamentalist Mormons who still practice the “everlasting covenant” of polygamy (and who would be damned if they didn’t) are true Mormons and the mainstream Mormons are apostate.

4. Joseph Smith wasn’t a true prophet.

So to my mainstream Mormon readers, which is it?

The Gordon B. Hinckley interview.

1, January 7, 2008

Here’s the full 16 minute Hinckley interview from 2002. Watch as Prophet/President Hinckley evades answers some tough questions like: 1) Dissidents; 2) Racism (”we’re developing them [blacks]“); 3) Being viewed by all other churches as a religious sect [cult]; 4) If they’d prefer to have better relations with the other, older churches (Joseph Smith must be rolling in the grave with Hinckley’s answer); and 5) The DNA problem.

Hinckley’s attempt at defending Mormonism on the DNA question is another classic lesson in evasiveness. He claims that it’s all speculation and it hasn’t been proven yet. Well Mr. Hinckley, that was over five years ago when you said that. The evidence is in and DNA has proven the Book of Mormon to be false! (To watch the video DNA vs the Book of Mormon, click here).

It’s entertaining to watch as Hinckley’s voice gets higher and cracks when he attempts to answer the tougher questions. If you want to get to the meat and potatoes of the Hinckley interview, skip ahead to 5:10.

Mormonism and abortion.

1, January 3, 2008

11_weeks-04.jpg According to the Mormon published Gospel Principles (1997 edition) on page 251:

There is seldom any excuse for abortion. The only exceptions are when—

1. Pregnancy has resulted from incest or rape;

2. The life or health of the woman is in jeopardy in the opinion of a competent medical authority; or

3. The fetus is known, by a competent medical authority, to have severe defects that will not allow the baby to survive beyond birth.

It’s either a human and abortion is murder, or it’s not. Make a decision and stick with it.

This is just another example of Mormonism’s complete inability to remain firm on stances that become unpopular in society. This is yet another example that it’s not holding fast to what’s right that’s most important in Mormonism, but it’s widespread public acceptance that’s most important.

Even Mormonism’s most public figure right now can’t make up his mind on the abortion issue. Watch videos of Mitt Romney’s waffling on the issue by clicking here.

What Mormonism really teaches about the Bible.

1, January 1, 2008

bible.jpg In response to a question by Dan, I’ve decided to post the following comments from Mormons on what they think of the Bible:

We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. Joseph Smith, Pearl of Great Price, Page 60

I believe the Bible as it read when it came from the pen of the original writers. Ignorant translators, careless transcribers, or designing and corrupt priests have committed many errors. Joseph Smith, History of the Church , Volume 6, Page 57

The scriptures are a mixture of very strange doctrines to the Christian world, who are blindly led by the blind. Joseph Smith, History of the Church , Volume 6, Page 478

It was apparent that many important points touching the salvation of men, had been taken from the Bible, or lost before it was compiled. Joseph Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Page 10

This congregation heard brother O. Pratt scan the validity of the Bible, and I thought by the time he got through, that you would scarcely think a Bible worth picking up and carrying home, should you find one in the streets. Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, Volume 3, Page 116

The Bible is not a sufficient guide; it is only the history of the people who lived 1800 years ago. Orson Hyde, Journal of Discourses, Volume 2, Page 75

The Bible has been robbed of its plainness; many sacred books having been lost, others rejected by the Romish Church, and what few we have left, were copied and re-copied so many times, that it is admitted that almost every verse has been corrupted and mutilated to that degree that scarcely any two of them read alike. Orson Pratt, The Seer, Page 213

Latter-day Saints and Muslims acknowledge that writings in the Bible, while inspired and truthful, underwent some changes as they passed through the hands of careless scribes and translators and conniving priests. David Stewart, A Message of Friendship: Muslims and Latter-day Saints, Page 4

A shocking realization if Mormon Mitt Romney becomes president.

1, December 31, 2007

blood-atonement.jpg

It doesn’t matter to me whether or not a Mormon is elected to the office of president. If an active member of a cult is the leader of our country, how much more harm can he bestow upon our nation that Bill Clinton didn’t do or that Hillary Clinton couldn’t do? The country will get the president it deserves and my hope is in God, not the government. Personally, I think the best thing for the Church in this country is for the worst president to be elected. But I’ll save that for a later post.

Pondering a Romney presidency, I realized that there is potential for some pretty heinous activity to take place if elected. You see, the Mormon Doctrine of Blood Atonement calls for the murder of those who commit sins that the blood of Christ cannot cleanse. To learn more about about this blasphemous anti-Christian doctrine, see my two previous posts on the subject here and here.

As you can imagine, this doctrine–introduced by the early leaders of Mormonism–didn’t go over so well with those who weren’t Mormons (and even some who were), so the mainstream LDS organization has distanced itself from this awful teaching much like they’ve done with other Mormon doctrines like racism and polygamy (more on those in coming posts).

One of the excuses forwarded by the LDS organization to candy-coat the Blood Atonement Doctrine was to say that it could only be practiced when the power of the government and the power of the church are in the same hands.

“This doctrine can only be practiced in its fulness [sic] in a day when the civil and ecclesiastical laws are administered in the same hands. It was, for instance, practiced in the days of Moses, but it was not and could not be practiced in this dispensation . . .” Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, Page 93, 1966 edition.

Mormons fail to realize that this was exactly the situation when Brigham Young was the governor of Utah.

Now consider this: If Mitt Romney is elected president then the civil and ecclesiastical laws will be in the same hands: the hands of the Mormons organization. And we saw what occurred last time this happened.

Am I suggesting that if Mitt Romney is elected president that Blood Atonement will be re-instituted by the LDS organization? No. I believe that Mormons have worked too hard to look, sound, and act like Christians (the very Christians they consider apostate heathens) to ever do anything to jeopardize their new mainstream image. But you have to admit it is certainly a very interesting thing to ponder.

Out of the mouth of babes.

This kid gives a wonderfully candid response to the question “If you weren’t a Mormon, what would you be?” How come so many adults are incapable of grasping this?

Mormon distributor “Deseret Book” now selling Joel Osteen’s “Become a Better You.”

1, December 28, 2007

joseph-smith.jpgjoel-osteen-pic.jpg

How bad can Joel Osteen’s watered-down, candy-coated, version of the gospel be? So bad that it’s being sold to Mormons by Mormons!

Joel Osteen’s “gospel” is so far from biblical orthodox Christianity that the Mormon distributor Deseret Books feels Become a Better You is safe enough to sell to Mormons.

Congratulations Joel: You have successfully perverted the gospel so much that it’s now palatable to Mormons.

Here’s the link.

Joel Osteen says Mormons are true Christians.

1, December 27, 2007

Recently Joel Osteen on a Fox News interview was asked if a Mormon is “a true Christian.” Of course Osteen falls back on his feelings (not the foundational Word of God that never changes) and says, “Well, in my mind they are.”

You can watch the interview video here and read more about it on Apprising Ministries.

All this may remind you of video I posted back in October in which Joel Osteen claims that he and Mormon Mitt Romney believe in the same Jesus. If you haven’t seen it, you can check it out here.

The worst of politics and Mormonism.

1, December 25, 2007

mitt.jpg

Politicians have to lie to win elections. Mormons have to lie to cover up their sordid history. But what happens when you mix the two together?

Apparently presidential candidate Mitt Romney made a comment that he saw his dad marching with Martin Luther King Jr. When this lie was exposed a quick spin was needed and who can spin better than a Mormon? In this short video Mitt Romney gives you his definition of “saw.” It’s rather comical.

Recognizing the 202nd birthday of Joseph Smith by posting some of his false prophecies.

1, December 22, 2007

it-all-started-with-a-rock-in-a-hat.jpg

To recognize the 202nd birthday of Mormon Prophet Joseph Smith (December 23, 1805), Reformation Nation has decided to post some of his prophecies; because surely, a true prophet of God would not utter false prophecies.

The Return of Christ in Smith’s Generation

Among the number, my father presented himself, but before I washed his feet, I asked of him a father’s blessing, which he granted by laying his hands upon my head, in the name of Jesus Christ, and declaring that I should continue in the Priest’s office until Christ comes. Joseph Smith, History of the Church, Volume 1, Page 323, January 23, 1833

I prophesy in the name of the Lord God, and let it be written—the Son of Man will not come in the clouds of heaven till I am eighty five years old. Joseph Smith, History of the Church, Volume 5, Page 336, February 1
